Save Fuel with an Ecofan Stove Fan

The hot topic of conversation at the moment is how to save money on your energy bills. If you have a wood burning stove, then the addition of an Ecofan stove top fan is a simple and effective way to ensure that you get the optimum results from every log you burn. Tests have proven that an Ecofan can in fact reduce fuel usage by up to 18%! This in turn will reduce particulate and carbon emissions, so not only are you saving money, but you are also helping the environment.

Why does an Ecofan save fuel?

The basic principle of a stove fan is to circulate warm air directly into your living area thereby increasing the heat efficiency, rather than having most of the heat rising immediately to the ceiling. The airflow created by a genuine Ecofan can actually help you feel the heat from your wood stove up to 38% faster!

How does an Ecofan work?

Once you have bought your Ecofan there are no running costs as it uses thermoelectric technology to convert the heat on the top of your stove into electricity via a thermoelectric module. Simply place your fan to the rear and side of the flue pipe and once your stove reaches a temperature of around 100°C then it will start automatically. Subsequently it will adjust its speed with the stove temperature – as the stove heats up, the Ecofan runs faster to move more warm air into the room and as the stove burns down and cools, the Ecofan automatically shuts off.

Which Ecofan should I buy?

With 6 Ecofan models to choose from there are a few factors that you need to take into account when choosing the best one for your situation. The first of these is the CFM rating which refers to the Cubic Feet of Air per Minute that the fan can move when operating at full power. For larger rooms you should consider a fan with a higher CFM rating such as the Ecofan Airmax or AirDeco II. However, you also need to take into consideration the space available on top of your stove, ensuring there is ample room to the rear of the stove for fan blades to rotate unhindered. If space is limited then the Original Mini Ecofan is a great option.
